Hard up and with a grudge against insurance companies, English pilot Rex Black fakes his death and meets up with his wife and the money in Malaga, Spain when things have quieted down. But when the insurance investigator turns up, Rex starts a game of cat-and-mouse.

Ο Ρεξ Μπλακ, ιδιοκτήτης μιας μικρής μεταφορικής εταιρίας, εμπλέκεται σε ατύχημα με ανεμοπλάνο και θεωρείται νεκρός. Όμως, ο Ρεξ είναι ολοζώντανος, μιας και ο ίδιος σκηνοθέτησε τον θάνατο του, ώστε να πάρει τα χρήματα της ασφάλειας, που του είχαν αρνηθεί σε προηγούμενη περίπτωση. Στην απάτη είναι και η σύζυγος του, η Στέλα, η οποία αναμένει τα χρήματα, ενώ ο Ρεξ αλλάζει ταυτότητα και την περιμένει στην Ισπανία. Αλλά εκεί, οι ορέξεις του Ρεξ αλλάζουν και γίνεται ματαιόδοξος, αποζητώντας περισσότερα με τη νέα του ταυτότητα.
