Πρόκειται για τον νεαρό ευγενή, τον Τζόνι Γουέβερλι, και τη πλούσια σύζυγό του, που έχουν τρομοκρατηθεί από ένα γράμμα που τους προειδοποιεί για την επικείμενη απαγωγή του μικρού τους γιού.
