Alexander the Great

Alexander the Great

Alexandros of Philip II and the Olympiad, was born in July 356 BC [6], possibly on the 20th or 26th of July, in Pella, the capital of the Macedonian state. According to the tradition, he was born the same night that Herastratus burned the temple of Artemis in Ephesus, with the priests and priests interpreting the event as an echo of the subjugation of Asia.

According to tradition, his genealogy is divided into two central forms of the ancient Greek tradition, that of the half-god Hercules, who was the originator of the Macedonian Argean dynasty, and that of the hero Achilleas, whose son, Neoptolemos, founded the basilica the house of Molosses, a member of which was the mother of Olympiada. [9] Alexander's legendary origins have contributed decisively to shaping his character since the early years of his life.
Alexander reports that he had a blue and brown eye showing the generally rare phenomenon of heterochromia in humans where the eye irises differ in color between them. He is also described as having a slight upward inclination of his head in the left-hand direction [14] [15], probably due to his injury from a torment on the throat at the siege of the Illyrian castle in 335 BC, or as a natural scoliosis symptom. In terms of height, it is generally described as below average, with muscularity.
In 349 BC [17] Leonidas, a relative of Olympiada, assumed the responsibility of raising the prince. Under his supervision, Alexander taught arithmetic, geometry, music, and was particularly involved in horse riding. Later, Philippos commissioned Aristotle's studies of his son, who taught him the history, astronomy, geography, medicine, philology and political sciences, along with the rest of the young members of the Macedonian aristocracy. [18] Apprenticeship near the great philosopher played a decisive role in the character of the young Alexander.
