Ένα μικρό αγόρι βρίσκει δεμένο σ` ένα στύλο, στους δρόμους του Παρισιού του `50, ένα κόκκινο μπαλόνι. Το παίρνει μαζί του κι από εκείνη τη στιγμή κι έπειτα το μπαλόνι ακολουθεί το αγόρι παντού. Κάτι που προκαλεί τον φθόνο των άλλων αγοριών που παίζουν στους δρόμους.
