Jack was born on April 22, 1937, in Neptune City, New Jersey, the son of a showgirl, June Frances Nicholson (November 5, 1918 – July 31, 1963) (stage name June Nilson). Nicholson's mother was of Irish, English, and German descent. She married Italian-American showman Donald Furcillo (stage name Donald Rose) in 1936, before realizing that he was already married.

Biographer Patrick McGilligan stated in his book Jack's Life that Latvian-born Eddie King (originally Edgar A. Kirschfeld), June's manager, may have been Nicholson's biological father, rather than Furcillo. Other sources suggest June Nicholson was unsure of who the father was. As June was only 18 years old, unmarried and uncertain of the father's identity when Nicholson was born, her parents agreed to raise Nicholson as their own child without revealing his true parentage, and June would act as his sister.
In 1974, Time magazine researchers learned, and informed Nicholson, that his "sister," June, was actually his mother, and his other "sister," Lorraine, was really his aunt. By this time, both his mother and grandmother had died (in 1963 and 1970, respectively). On finding out, Nicholson said it was "a pretty dramatic event, but it wasn't what I'd call traumatizing...I was pretty well psychologically formed." The above information courtesy of Wikipedia.

Catherine A. Hall:
Easy Rider, the most boring movie in the world. Nicholson saved it, it would have been a colossal flop.

Edward Bliss:
Was this biography someone's high school project?

Dynamo Dan:
Funny how I personally never liked Jack Nicholson until I learned of his early story. He was destined to be a rebel within his own unique sway and seek affection wherever available. GREAT documentary, even greater true story!
mrbeaverstate:
Not...one...single...interview...with...Jack...

Tangerine Sky333:
Thanks for the upload. One program correction: The 'sexual revolution' of the '60s didn't start until '67, ushered in by the hippie, anti-war counter culture. In '62, little had changed from the buttoned-down '50s. I guess that the writer was too young to get right the timeline of the '60s.

Old Geezer:
A movie Jack did I felt was badly under rated and not mentioned here was Going South WOW what a shining example of his talent.

Easy Rider was a good film that I was enjoying until Jack got killed in it.  I almost felt like the scriptwriters had got it wrong.  His, almost cameo, appearance was magic

he used to be such a babe wow

MrsPoodle78:
How far into the film does this video begin?

My reply to MrsPoodle:
I can't say for sure but I think it was probably a 1-hour show because this video is 43:22 minutes+ which is usually approx. the length of an actual show (allowing for commercials). So that means it is probably just a few minutes in from the beginning - but that would change if it were a longer show. I taped this off the TLC Cable channel years ago and did not catch the beginning, which of course I regret. Despite that, I think anyone who likes Jack would be interested in seeing this even though it is incomplete.
