The art is after the ancient Greek pottery kylix of "Zeus Courting Ganymede" by the Penthesilea Painter. Most societies have censored the same sex myths. Even today, the History Channel censors the fact that ancient Greek myths portrayed Zeus as bisexual. Eleven same-sex ancient Greek myths survive to be made into short films.

A film by Mark Pope, produced by GanymationTM, David vs Goliath ProductionsTM, & Ganymation Productions about the real, historic Greek myth. Zeus & Ganymede: Two Loves, is a short animated film about the ancient myth of the bisexual god Zeus, & Ganymede.

Winner of the Award of Excellence at the 2012 3C Media Solutions Film & Video Festival.

Zeus & Ganymede: Two Loves, is a short animated film about the ancient, same-sex Greek myth of Zeus & Ganymede. It is the first in a series of 6-11 ancient, same-sex Greek myths that I will make into short animated films. We are currently in production of "Greece is the World"TM, a short comedy animation loosely based on the ancient same-sex Greek myths.

Director, Mark Pope, Statement:

I had never heard of Ganymede when I first saw the beautiful ancient Greek pottery kylix of "Zeus Courting Ganymede" by the Penthesilea Painter. My research soon revealed that was because starting with the Christian influence in Roman times and peaking with the Victorian age, some now influential societies have censored the same sex Greek myths. Even today, the History Channel censors the myth of Zeus and Ganymede. The Zeus Ganymede model was conceived originally by the Greeks as a teaching myth exemplifying a positive male love relationship in which a youth and his father are treated with respect and the post pubescent boy is loved but not abused in any way.

In ancient Greece, homosexuality was accepted and held in high regard. Most Greek statutes and mythologies reflect male to male love, and most males experienced homosexual relations for some part of their life.

All of the female same sex ancient Greek myths have been lost to history. Approximately eleven male same sex ancient Greek myths survive intact enough to be made into a short film.

It is an animation, but also partly a documentary, which most people think of as an unscripted film, with non-professional actors, sometimes with re-enactments. This could be described as a scripted film with animated Greek pottery decorations, transformed found footage and marble statues as actors, and re-enactments created in the imagination of the viewer.

This is the first of eleven male same sex ancient Greek myths that I will make into short, animation films. Please help uncensor this story from now on for our gay youth today by making this film an Official Selection of your film festival. With all of the teen suicides due to bullying these days, much effort is going into ways to stop these teens, often GLBT or perceived as such, from committing suicide. I believe nothing is more effective against low self image or bullying than seeing yourself and others seeing you included in history, just like everyone else. The title, Two Loves comes form the often quoted 1894 poem by Lord Alfred Douglas which refers to "Love which dare not speak its name".

I hope to use the success of this first ancient same sex Greek myth to obtain funding needed to make the other ten myths.
